The Skinny on Obesity and Genetics...


NAOmni totally stole my thunder and posted this yesterday... but whatevs, if my darling husband took the time to send it to me I will take the time to post it.

"An international group of scientists from over 60 institutions worldwide, compared the body mass index (BMI), a standard measure of body fat, with the genetic makeup of 90,000 people of European ancestry. Their findings: that slimmer folks had different versions of the six genes than their flabbier compeers. "

Before you place the blame on dear old mom and dad for the extra junk in your trunk, keep in mind that people with these particular genotypes "carried an average of 10 pounds more of fat." Personally, I've got a lot more than ten pounds in my trunk... Happy Tuesday!
