Fat is the New Black???

Prevention RD mentioned an article in the LA Times that makes note of our recent obsession with fat celebrities, HERE. Apparently the public cannot get enough of fat celebs, just take a look at all of the shows that focus around them. And celebrities are aware ad are cashing in on this fact.

I would argue that it is not the fat celebrities, but rather their struggle with weight that the public is enamored with. To see someone who is rich and famous struggling makes them seem real, and can act as a source of motivation. Obesity is a reality in our society, so it is no surprise it has turned up in the shows we watch.
